    Simulation and experimental investigation of high-speed projectile impacting closed-cell aluminum foam

    In order to analyze the impact acceleration of the projectile impacting the aluminum foam material, a dynamic non-linear finite element model of the projectile impacting the closed-cell aluminum foam experiment device was established and verified by the experiment. It is found that the numerical simulation results of projectile impact closed-cell aluminum foam are consistent with the change of experimental results. When the projectile impacts the homogeneous closed-cell aluminum foam, the impact acceleration is trapezoidal and the impact peak and pulse width are related to the density of the aluminum foam material. With the increase of the porosity of the aluminum foam, the peak value of the acceleration rises and the pulse width of acceleration decreases

    Evaluation of nano-frictional and mechanical properties of a novel Langmuir-Blodgett monolayer/self-assembly monolayer composite structure

    A novel stearic acid (SA)/3-aminopropyltrethoxysilane (APS) composite structure was fabricated using the combined method of the Langmuir-Blodgett technique and self-assembly monolayer (SAM) technique. Its frictional, adhesive properties and interface contact types between the atomic force microscope tip and the samples were evaluated based on Amonton's laws and the general Carpick's transition equation, respectively. The results showed that the tip-sample contacts corresponded to the Johnson-Kendall-Robert/Derjaguin-Muller-Toporov (DMT) transition model for SiO2, APS-SAMs, and the unheated SA-APS composite structure, and for the heated SA-APS bilayer to the DMT model. Frictional forces for the four samples were linearly dependent on external loads at higher loads, and at lower loads they were significantly affected by adhesive forces. Frictional and scratching tests showed that the heated SA-APS composite structure exhibited the best lubricating properties and adhesion resistance ability, and its wear resistance capacity was greatly improved due to the binding-mode conversion from hydrogen bonds to covalent bonds. A fast least squares lattice and a fast QR-lattice adaptive nonlinear filtering algorithms based on the lattice structure are also presented.     An adolescent with primary cutaneous follicle center lymphoma: a case report and literature review

    Primary cutaneous follicle center lymphoma (PCFCL) differs from follicular lymphoma in biological behavior and molecular profile and is treated as a distinct entity, according to the 5th edition of the World Health Organization classification of hematolymphoid tumors. It is an uncommon cutaneous B-cell lymphoma that is considerably rare in children and adolescents. To date, only 13 cases of individuals younger than 20 years of age have been reported in the literature. The lack of relevant clinical epidemiological data in this population has hampered the investigation of its clinical and diagnostic aspects. Here we report the case of a 17-year-old male with PCFCL, who may be the first PCFCL patient under 20 years of age reported in China. He was admitted to the hospital with a solitary nodule on his face. After complete surgical excision, the patient’s facial mass was histologically identified as PCFCL. The patient’s prognosis was favorable, with no recurrence at 17 months of follow-up after the surgical resection. We present a case of an adolescent PCFCL patient and systematically review the literature with a view to increase the awareness of the disease and inform the diagnosis and treatment of this age group

    Eliminating Plasmodium falciparum in Hainan, China: a study on the use of behavioural change communication intervention to promote malaria prevention in mountain worker populations

    BACKGROUND: In the island of Hainan, the great majority of malaria cases occur in mountain worker populations. Using the behavioral change communication (BCC) strategy, an interventional study was conducted to promote mountain worker malaria prevention at a test site. This study found the methods and measures that are suitable for malaria prevention among mountain worker populations. METHODS: During the Plasmodium falciparum elimination stage in Hainan, a representative sampling method was used to establish testing and control sites in areas of Hainan that were both affected by malaria and had a relatively high density of mountain workers. Two different methods were used: a BCC strategy and a conventional strategy as a control. Before and after the intervention, house visits, core group discussions, and structural surveys were utilized to collect qualitative and quantitative data regarding mountain worker populations (including knowledge, attitudes, and practices [KAPs]; infection status; and serological data), and these data from the testing and control areas were compared to evaluate the effectiveness of BCC strategies in the prevention of malaria. RESULTS: In the BCC malaria prevention strategy testing areas, the accuracy rates of malaria-related KAP were significantly improved among mountain worker populations. The accuracy rates in the 3 aspects of malaria-related KAP increased from 37.73%, 37.00%, and 43.04% to 89.01%, 91.53%, and 92.25%, respectively. The changes in all 3 aspects of KAP were statistically significant (p < 0.01). In the control sites, the changes in the indices were not as marked as in the testing areas, and the change was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Furthermore, in the testing areas, both the percentage testing positive in the serum malaria indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT) and the number of people inflicted decreased more significantly than in the control sites (p < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The use of the BCC strategy significantly improved the ability of mountain workers in Hainan to avoid malarial infection. Educational and promotional materials and measures were developed and selected in the process, and hands-on experience was gained that will help achieve the goal of total malaria elimination in Hainan

    Generative adversarial network-based attenuation correction for 99mTc-TRODAT-1 brain SPECT

    BackgroundAttenuation correction (AC) is an important correction method to improve the quantification accuracy of dopamine transporter (DAT) single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). Chang's method was developed for AC (Chang-AC) when CT-based AC was not available, assuming uniform attenuation coefficients inside the body contour. This study aims to evaluate Chang-AC and different deep learning (DL)-based AC approaches on 99mTc-TRODAT-1 brain SPECT using clinical patient data on two different scanners.MethodsTwo hundred and sixty patients who underwent 99mTc-TRODAT-1 SPECT/CT scans from two different scanners (scanner A and scanner B) were retrospectively recruited. The ordered-subset expectation-maximization (OS-EM) method reconstructed 120 projections with dual-energy scatter correction, with or without CT-AC. We implemented a 3D conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN) for the indirect deep learning-based attenuation correction (DL-ACμ) and direct deep learning-based attenuation correction (DL-AC) methods, estimating attenuation maps (μ-maps) and attenuation-corrected SPECT images from non-attenuation-corrected (NAC) SPECT, respectively. We further applied cross-scanner training (cross-scanner indirect deep learning-based attenuation correction [cull-ACμ] and cross-scanner direct deep learning-based attenuation correction [call-AC]) and merged the datasets from two scanners for ensemble training (ensemble indirect deep learning-based attenuation correction [eDL-ACμ] and ensemble direct deep learning-based attenuation correction [eDL-AC]). The estimated μ-maps from (c/e)DL-ACμ were then used in reconstruction for AC purposes. Chang's method was also implemented for comparison. Normalized mean square error (NMSE), structural similarity index (SSIM), specific uptake ratio (SUR), and asymmetry index (%ASI) of the striatum were calculated for different AC methods.ResultsThe NMSE for Chang's method, DL-ACμ, DL-AC, cDL-ACμ, cDL-AC, eDL-ACμ, and eDL-AC is 0.0406 ± 0.0445, 0.0059 ± 0.0035, 0.0099 ± 0.0066, 0.0253 ± 0.0102, 0.0369 ± 0.0124, 0.0098 ± 0.0035, and 0.0162 ± 0.0118 for scanner A and 0.0579 ± 0.0146, 0.0055 ± 0.0034, 0.0063 ± 0.0028, 0.0235 ± 0.0085, 0.0349 ± 0.0086, 0.0115 ± 0.0062, and 0.0117 ± 0.0038 for scanner B, respectively. The SUR and %ASI results for DL-ACμ are closer to CT-AC, Followed by DL-AC, eDL-ACμ, cDL-ACμ, cDL-AC, eDL-AC, Chang's method, and NAC.ConclusionAll DL-based AC methods are superior to Chang-AC. DL-ACμ is superior to DL-AC. Scanner-specific training is superior to cross-scanner and ensemble training. DL-based AC methods are feasible and robust for 99mTc-TRODAT-1 brain SPECT
